Installed a new microwave last night. The wall mount bracket is about 2" high with an "L" lip that catches on the bottom back corner of the microwave. The MW gets hooked on the bracket and then rotated up into position to put in the top bolts.
Problem: I have a 3/4" thick plywood backsplash with a mica face that runs across the back of the range and up to the upper cabinets. For the new mounting bracket to be mounted, I needed to take off 1/4" off the top of the splash for the 30" in between two cabinets. The splash is caulked to a stucco wall.
I was thinkin' I could rout most of it off and then just chisel where the router base wouldn't go. Then I remembered I had the Harbor Freight Multi-Function tool. I didn't think it would do it, but I was wrong. It worked like a champ. It made the job so easy. I thought if it dies after I'm done, I got my money's worth.
