There was a KK on North Avenue a few miles east of the Georgia Tech campus. I never really developed a hankering for their donuts (probably why I'm alive today).

Like Rich P, I was absolutely astounded that they "accosted" you. In my limited dealings with Japanese men and women, that would be unheard of. In fact, all of the Japanese-born women I know who would even dare do that are living in the US, with one possible exception (she did chew her boss out in front of an interpreter and me...in Japanese.).

KK was in the Twin Cities many years ago, then those stores went belly up and they left the market. Then perhaps 10 years ago there was lots of fan-fare and hoopla as they re-entered and proceeded to put up a whole slew of stores that had long lines of people waiting for oh, about two months.

Now all of their stores that I knew about have closed and at least according to their website they are no longer present in MN anymore. While I have some coworkers that disagree loudly, I can't say that I miss them... Even the local grocery stores made better donuts IMO, and until this spring we had a local bakery that had been around for about 100 years that was head and shoulders better. It must be a "two types of people" problem, where the KK donuts just aren't up my alley.
