3:38 a.m. I can't stay in bed any longer.
3:58 a.m. done arisen, washed my face and started to think about why.
4:00 a.m. sucking down my first 800 mg ibuprofen for the day, getting ice pack from freezer to start icing my back.
5:25 a.m. been at the computer since 4:00 checking forums etc.
5:30 a.m. wake wife and go outside to start vehicle.
5:40 a.m. leave to take wife to restaurant to start our day.
6:00 a.m. finished beer order, getting first cup of coffee and saying hello to first coffee customer of the day just as cook is arriving.
7:00 a.m. ordering breakfast from just arriving waitress.
7:45 a.m. leaving table to check what may be needed in restaurant or bar before I leave for the day. Easy day today, one meat order placed at 7:10 and no grocery list to go for.
8:00 a.m. home to a yard full of hungry barn cats.
8:15 a.m. look over yard for outside crew and determine todays course.
8:45 back on forums, take second dose of Ibuprofen, check with day crew to see what their schedule is and what I can expect from them.
9:19 a.m. back checking another forum, looking for price info on scrap products which I do for a supplemental type income.
Till 3:00 p.m. I am running around like I don't know what I am doing, checking with help, the accountant, the store, mowing grass, cleaning and shipping when I have a sale or delivering and/or preparing scrap for sale. Chasing down more material or picking up at my regular customers and always looking for that next item to make a buck on.
Almost like clockwork I am able and willing to lay down for a nap. Right after I spend a few moments on an inversion table or at the bone cruncher. Usually by 5:00 p.m. I am on my way to find out what problens have arisen at the restaurant or the bar, And now it is beer time.
And believe me I am hoping there is nothing out of place so that I can relax in peace. The restaurant part of the business closes by 9:00 p.m. and we are usually home between 10 and 10:30 p.m., cussing and discussing our day, good or bad, and deciding what we need to do tomorrow. I can go to sleep right after I get a shower and spend as little as 10 minutes on that inversion table.
Between 11:00 p.m. and 4 a.m. the next morning I will wake for one reason or another at least 3 times before I can no longer stand the bed. My mind works great if I am alone, but the moment anyone gets near me I forget all about what I am planning and why. I just want to lay down and go to sleep.
My wife and I have been going like this seven days a week, for more than four years and we see no let up unless one of us is hurt or sick. Most of the time things feel good business wise, but lately the economy has tanked even for the bar business.
Thanks for letting me unload. It really isn't as hard or uncomfortable as I would like to think. I just have a backache, no insurance because i can't afford it, and a few other minor issues like pride that won't allow me to use the system.
And worse than anything else, I don't have time to set up the wood working shop that I always wanted after I retired, nor the ambition to work at till we sell the business.
