    Belt And Suspenders?

I picked up a dual-light halogen setup on a stand from HF so I can do some night work next week on the shop. I was out there this week for a night but really need more light than my little lead light. I was putting it together and the screw that holds the cover over the bulb enclosure screws into a threaded boss with a lock washer. For some reason there is also a wing nut on the screw as well.

Maybe it is designed to make it take longer to replace a burned-out bulb.

They take more than ten seconds to cool off after burning out. DAMHIK.

There are different models of such lights, but I've got one on which the wing nut holds a handle (for adjusting the light direction) onto the same screw that holds the cover on. Screw into the threaded boss to hold the cover, use the wing nut to fasten the handle.
