Something I Hate Almost As Much As Plumbing

is installing doors. Ugh. And this was a storm door. I replaced our storm door today. It took most of the morning. Granted we were having a yard sale and I kept getting interrupted, but still.

As I have said before; "I'd rather fight a junk yard dog then plumb!"

I don't mind plumbing very much. I detest sheetrock work in any form. I never have been able to get into it. I dont like insulating crawl spaces either.
I don't mind any other construction type work very much.
I think therefore I .....awwww where is that remote.

I don't mind plumbing, just don't seem to have much luck the first go round sometimes. Usually when it's an emergency situation. I despise sheet rock and won't roof anymore. I like hanging doors and installing hardware and such. I'm good at it too.
Don't get me wrong, I was good at sheetrock hanging and finishing as well as roofing. Just don't care for either with a purple passion.

Stuff I hate in order of hate:

            1) Drywall, although the finished result always looks good, I'm slow and there's way too much wax on/wax off.

            2) I've only ever done door with jamb and it did not go well. Put it on day one, put it back on again on day two. It fills the hole and it locks, but I'd never admit I did it. Done a few simple replacements, they're pretty easy.

            3) Most plumbing I do doesn't leak, but soldering is still not my thing. I've done a bit of electronics so the experience helps, but it's not the same.

I would sooner do plumbing over going to work and most people know I don't like plumbing. I have second guessed myself for moving into a management spot off and on the past few years....

I'm going right along with the general dislike order trend here.

                1) Sheetrock. I don't even like fooling with it when someone else does it. White dust all over everything and seems like a good way to ruin a shop vac.

                2) Crawling under the house for whatever reason. That's where the spider monster lives - uggh.

                3) Soldering copper pipe. What other handyman chore involves the dangers of flooding your house AND burning it down in one fell swoop? Any other kind of plumbing work is not too bad.

                4) Hanging a door. Not too bad when it's a pre-hung, but forget about it when you have to mortise the hinges on both sides, etc. etc. I get pretty peeved when someone in my family unscrews the hinges instead of tapping out the hinge pins when we're on a painting project. Turns a one minute slip fit reinstall into a 15 minute pain in the keister.
                - Chris.
