    One heckuva antique planer

Wow--you could plane an entire door in one pass with this. Come to think of it, you could drive this thing down the road AND plane your doors as you go along. Does it run on steam power??

It looks like it would have a belt that ran from a steam powered motor or a tractor. Like this one I saw running at the Mashville Festival last year.

Plus there was a steam powered sawmill that had loads of power.

The logs must have been 18-24 inches wide after they were cut square( if not more!)

That's an oldie for sure. A lot of the mid to late 1800's and early 1900's were steam driven or hydro powered. I would think this one is older.
