    Recovery 90% complete...

6 weeks last Saturday. Still a little tender on the sides and VERY sensitive on the top (top is facing the camera in the first pic).

Looks more swollen than it really is. At least it’s not catching on everything now.

Looks a lot better now. (Vitamin E cream on it).

That looks like it's healing great!

What has your Dr. said about the tenderness in the long term? I took a much smaller chunk off the side of my thumb about 9 years ago. It still reminds me it's there every now and again, especially on cold days.

Any ghost feelings yet? I've had co-workers have had similar injuries complain about the ghost feeling from time to time. Just curious

Doc says there will always be a little sensitivity/tenderness - and yes, it doesn't like the cold

              No ghosting, so far

It looks like you're healing just fine, Rod. Good for you.

The healing is looking good, if I can say that. How is the adaption to changes in work habits / holding things coming along?

It does look good - the doc did a nice job.

Do you still walk around with you hand on top of your head to reduce the throbbing? DAMHIKT

Looking very good Rod. I got 4-5 pieces of Russian rocket propelled grenade sharpnel still in my back that tells me when cold weather arrives also. Doesn't beat those pretty weather-girls but... very reliable.

That is the way my doctor describes me in general!

Glad to see your recovery is coming along well. How has it affected your scooter riding?

                          Odds & ends...

No throbbing or pain, unless I knock it on something!

                          I can't:
                          - open a carton of milk (now buy plastic screw top bottles).
                          - tear anything (use my teeth or a pair of scissors)

                          I can:
                          - Open/close a zipper with my index/middle fingers (needs to move freely)
                          - Now (today) use the mouse (awkward but that will pass)
                          - RIDE THE VESPA - right hand (normal grip) on the front brake - two or four fingers

Most other things just mean just "changing hands"
                          - squeezing toothpaste

                          I consider myself very lucky
                          - being left handed
                          - only losing the "end" of my thumb
                          - having you guys to cheer me on

                            Rod-

I have not been active on the forum for many months, and was shocked when I read about your injury.

It's the kind of thing that could happen to anyone EXCEPT Rod Kirby. What a wakeup call to all of us! These fun toys really ARE dangerous. Thanks for reminding us of this through your posts.

I hope your recovery continues and that you are able to adapt to all of your previous activities.
