    Paying attention

I was too excited with Bernie's idea for drilling pen blanks, so I got out my relatively new Incra 1000 miter, fitted with an MDF sacrificial fence for support both sides of the blade. It was last used for 45 degree cuts, so I adjusted it for a 90 degree cut, put a length of 3/4" wood in to cut to pen blank length, and started cutting. And heard a little more than just wood being cut Made a nice 3/8" cut into it, for forgetting to move it to the left.

Reminds me of "adjusting" the BT3 miter table fence's plastic end caps to "proper" length. I'd thought I would have learned something from that. But at least it wasn't my fingers.

Next time I'm paying more attention. I think...

As you said, at least it wasn't your fingers. Hopefully the Incra isn't ruined -- just "customized" for your specifications!!!

Ouch, at least it was just expensive metal and not something soft and painful. I almost did something similar with my SMT fence today.

I probably ought to get around to painting the red line.
