    Facebook

Does anybody here have an account? Within my family I am one of the last holdouts. Most of my siblings have one, my cousins do and now even my wife has an account. I refuse to open one. She says it helped her find some old friends she lost track of. I say that there is a reason that I am no longer in contact with some people and I don't really want to be found by them. She also says that it helps keep in touch with my family. I already have a phone and email for that.

I get solicitations quite often from a few friends. I still haven't messed with it.

      I will never do Myspace.

I'll be the first to say that I do visit Facebook. Not often but I have been able to keep up with old friends through it. I lost touch when I moved to the other side of Lake Ontario. Now I'm finding that my graduating class has virtually covered the globe.

Yup. Had an initial "epiphany" stage where I couldn't look up and add friends fast enough. Now that the newness has worn off, I still visit it regularly and keep in touch with a lot of old friends with it.

It was a GREAT way to post regular updates during Adele's surgery and kept me from having to call 100 people everytime there was some news.

Every time someone brings it up, I feel that I need to get myself on there...

Every time I go out with people for a happy hour or something, someone always asks me if I'm on facebook. Seems like it's the socially-advantageous thing to do. And since I'm a single man, I sadly have the time to do it.

Even so, I'm hesitant to do so...

I'm still holding out, but my wife is on it, which of course means it is only a matter of time before I have to be on it...

It is not something I am drawn to though - which makes me wonder if I am now officially that grumpy old man: "Back in my day we didn't have ______ and we liked it that way, gosh darn it!"

My wife refuses to sign up, but I did about a year ago. For the most part, I'm glad I did. Good way to keep in touch with old friends without keeping in touch, if you get my meaning. What I mean to say is, there's a category of old friends that include those you would like to know what they're up to these days, but don't really want to call/write/email.

It's also a great place to post pics of recent vacations, the kids etc. If friends and family want to see them, they can. If not, you're not clogging their inbox with a message and 20 attached jpegs (not that any of us would do that).

The only part I don't like is getting friend requests from folks that I wasn't really friends with 20 years ago in high school, just so they can up their friend count.

Give it a try. If you don't like, just stop.

I have a Facebook account so I can keep up with my nieces and nephews, and a very few friends. Several people I've had business relationships with have sent invitations that I have turned down - that's what LinkedIn is for.

My wife refuses to get an account so I sometimes push her buttons by telling her about things her niece has posted.

I am on the free rider program: the wife has facebook and tells me what "distant friends" are up to.

                      Real friends I just call.

I frequent Facebook primarily to reconnect or find old friends I have neglected. I was pleasantly surprised to find a few H.S. friends that are also into WW. It is kind of fun to share the hobby with people I know in real life. (no offense guys)

She also says that it helps keep in touch with my family. I already have a phone and email for that.
I said that to LOML last week. I get FB requests about once a month through email. I usually reply that email is working fine. But if they insist, I tell them that LOML handles our facebook account. This has worked well. She handles FB and I handle email when it involves both of us on a personal level.

I am also a holdout but the majority of my friends and family are on it. My wife knows more about my aunts and cousins cousins that I do.

So does mine. About my aunts and cousins I mean. Heck, most days my wife knows more about what my parents are up to than I do.
