    SCOTCH whiskey

After sampling single malt scotch on our vacation cruise, might I recommend (if available in your area - I have to go to Dallas or Austin and hope I find it!):

    1. Abelour Highland Malt, 12 years old: aged in sherry casks 2 years, sweet taste, smooth, GOOD!

    2. Abelour Highland Malt, 16 years old: aged in sherry casks 6 years, less sweet, VERY VERY smooth! GREAT!

When it comes to single malt, I enjoy Glen Fiddich. If I can't get a single malt, Famous Grouse is very close when it comes to a blended.

I'll have to see if it's sold here. If so I'll give it a try. It will have Chivas Regal to compete with.

Not a raging Scotch drinker (much prefer a good tequila), but I do have a snort of The Glenlivet 18-y.o. from time to time. That's what I keep in my bar for the Scotch-inclined. They tend to rave about it.

Both great Malts I have been drinking single malt for many years and there are always numerous selections in my liquor cabinet when it comes time for a nightcap. When duty free was the real deal I used to pick up a good variety as I traveled. Now the pricing is less advantageous and I dont travel as much.

          I currentley have these

          Highland Park
          Bowmore
          Green Label (Johnny Walker)
          Macallan
          Glenfarclas

Not sure if you have a BevMo near you but I have seen Aberlour on the shelves there.

I normally drink Cutty Sark but for special occasions it is either Bomore or Laphroaig.

It was a gift from my step-son when he and his family came to visit in March. I think my previous favorite was Dalwhinie.

I'm not much for booze, but a good hot fudge malt sounds great.

Ummm...no such thing as a Scotch Whiskey. Irish or American Whiskey, Scottish or Canadian Whisky. Don't ask me why or how, but I know not to mix the two (linguistically or perhaps actually). Haven't heard of Arbelour, will give it a try whence I come across it. But my vote goes for the Glenmorangie. I guess we each have found our own preferences.

I'm with Whaler on Laphroaig. I prefer dark peaty Scottish Whiskey. I usually drink JW Black Label.

Growing up, I never thought I'd take a liking to beer. Well, college and living
on my own changed that. Same story for wine.

Then I never thought I'd take to hard liquors on their own. Tequila and rum
were definite "gateway" drinks. That changed recently when I had JW Black
at a Christmas party. I do drink it on the rocks, though. At the last
Christmas party, someone brought out JW Blue. Very nice. But when the
occassion doesn't call for it, JW Black for me.

Drinking good whiskey mixed with water or on the rocks should be a hanging offense. Just like drinking good coffee with cream and/or sugar

I've been favoring Dalmore from the Scottish highlands and recommended by a native of the area (he grew up across the river from this particular distillery).

We mostly consume wine and beer but on cold nights, there's nothing like the taste of good whiskey. Nice to see that members of this forum have such fine taste in the "water of life".

My favorite is Glen Morangie Port Wood Finish. I also like the Balvenie DoubleWood. For some reason Scotch is extremely expensive in Oregon and Washington. If I have friends driving up from California I'll usually have them stop by Beverages and More and pick me up a few bottles.

Only drink Makers Mark bourbon, on the rocks with a twist. Only sissies drink Scotch.
