    Back From Vacation!

LOML and my buddy (49 years as friends, and going strong!) and his wife, just back from a 2 week cruise.

First time on "Discovery Cruises." Started in Nassau, then Jamaica, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Caribbean Costa Rica, Panama, then thru the canal, to Nicaragua, Pacific Costa Rica.

Great trip! Educational, with seminars on the Mayans, Spanish Conquest, Star gazing [FINALLY saw the "Southern Cross" - inspirational!], Central Am. Literature, etc.

My FAVORITE session - a lesson in single malt Scotch tasting, with 8 examples to taste!

Small ship, 600 passengers. Opportunity to talk to a lot of folks, unlike the massive typical cruise ships.

And LOML and my pal & wife got to do a canopy zip line tour. Me - chicken.

Great time! Run by the "Semester at Sea" via Univ. of Virginia. These folks take college students around the world for 65 days for credit! Wish I was a student now!

If anyone is interested, they have a great Pacific cruise in December, thru Jan 7th. Half price including air fare, 21 days. But, do not sign up now! Prices drop as the time nears. www.discoverycruises.com.

And no, I don't get $$$ for referrals. just think this is a GREAT educational cruise for the money!

Sounds like you had a great time. No screaming peds to listen to...just the sounds of ocean waves. Post any pictures you took...at least the ones that are forum friendly.

We get flyers for these kinds of cruises all the time. After doing exactly one on a ship that carried 1900 pax, we think we'd prefer a much smaller (200 pax) cruise. Unfortunately, they're pricey.
