Periodically local kitchen cabinet companies offer a "free set of kitchen cabinets" won by a drawing. All that's necessary is to fill out the questionnaire. This questionnaire contains check-off items for what is desirable.

Well, the company does give away a free set of kitchen cabinets. I can't say if it includes demolition, delivery, or installation. There might be the small print. But the company does get a great list of potential leads.

And that's the reason for the promotion. What easier way to get a list of people who are thinking of upgrading their kitchen?

I'm willing to bet that what they're giving away is a low-end set of cabinets and will try to up-sell the winner. Or am I just being cynical this morning?

Plus I'd be very surprised if they don't sell that list to marketing groups. This is a lot like those kiosks you see that offer a free vacation and/or a car. You fill out a form to enter. If you read the form it asks for things like household income, how many times and where you go on vacation, etc.

I LOVE those things! Last time I was 113 years old, made 38 million a year, and vacationed 11 months of the year.
