    Pressure Washer has Prostate issues

You pull the trigger it dribbles, evetually a small stream will form and finally thar she blows. Is this some kind of valve issue?

PW is a Karcher with Hoda 6.5 engine. Engine runs OK, no apparent leaks and I don't see any hose kinks.

    TIA

Mine does the same thing. It first has to get the air out of the line and then it builds pressure. Once the air is gone, it is fine.

It ate baked beans and has gas?

Here is what you need to do. Hook up the hose, turn the water on and pull the trigger until water goes through. Now you should be able to start it and use it without the air problems. This worked on my deceased no-name and my Husky pressure washer.

        Mine too. Typical, I guess.

Thanks, I get the air thing. But it does it EVERY time I stop.

could be a sticky bypass valve or BPH. does it have to go frequently? get up in the middle of the night? oops that was a Avodart commercial, not pressure washer troubleshooting.

seriously, it is probably a sticking bypass valve.

Can this be serviced or is it a straight replacement? Will Saw Palmetto work?

I'd suppose it depends on the pressure washer itself. You'd have to take 1000 saw palmetto pills to get the power of just one of our capsules As always you should consult your health care professional before starting any new medications or supplements.

Here in KY we have a to deal with lots of hard minerals in our water that deposits on/in EVERYTHING that requires water. We have a lot of limestone bedrock that is the source of our troubles. It's all worth it though IMHO, because our water tastes the best of any tap I've ever had.

If it happened to me, my first inclanation would be to run a heavy dose of vinegar through it. Kinda disgusting to think about, but sort of a "douche" for your pressure washer.

                    YMMV.

                      Bill,

Karcher makes maintenance kits for their PW's.

Outside chance you might have a leak somewhere that lets air in when you turn it off. My Husky does the same thing when I first turn it on but now I run water through it before I power it up (as suggested by another poster) and that eliminates all the air.

Thanks, I did read this somewhere else. It does seem better today, I guess the usage is cleaning it's pipes.

Question though, is there any way to turn off the soap sucker when not in use? It makes sense that it would be sucking air when not in soap/vinegar. I don't see an obvious valve; I might have to resort to RTFM.
