    With all the talk about pilot training (or lack of) recently, I would wonder about an aircraft crew that had not noticed an unexpected fuel loss of over 36000 pounds.
    Disbelief. A fuel leak, probably from the valve that's used to dump fuel, is not something the pilots would expect. They might be thinking it was due to a bad indicator.

    Not at all in the same league as the accident in Buffalo, where the crew was clearly inattentive. According to the article in Kristofor's post, the pilots knew something was wrong and were troubleshooting.
