    Thanks for the warning Glenn. I'm sure you guys are right that the carb is a large part of my problem, but the stiff pull has me thinking there must be some cylinder damage.

    I was reading your reply about the "stiff pull" and got to thinking. If the carb is messed up, it could supply too much gas into the cylinder. This will make the first pull extremely hard. If you take out the plug, it should "pull" easy. If that works, it is definitely the carb. Watch out when you remove the spark plug. and pull the cord, there should be lots of gas shooting out the hole. Hope this helps. You can either adjust, replace or rebuild the carb.
