Definitely not as I have real things to do and no time to waste. I don't do texting either for that matter as I don't have a cell phone and don't want one. Put that on my resume. ha.. ha... ha..ha..ha..

I am looking for a new splatter guard for the monitor and keyboard! Until then the bill for yet another keyboard soaked in coffee is inbound!

I don't do twitter. I was an early adopter of lots of different IM options(had a sub 5 digit ICQ number, BBSes, IRC, and other IM providers as well) and have used those heavily at times (Brother deployed overseas, friends that have moved to Illinois, the Carolinas, New York, etc.).

I also have a Facebook account from back when you needed to be a college student (or at least have the .edu email address) to get one though I have never really used it much (I am not, and likely never will be, a content provider).

That said, there's not automatically anything more of an ego stroke about using facebook or twittering than hopping on BT3C and posting a "this is what I did" thread. Sure there are kids/people that go way overboard but there were kids that went way overboard with cell phones, and before that landlines, and before that smoke signals or whatever they had. I don't personally care what anyone is doing minute by minute, but for those that do, whatever floats their boat I guess.

Times change. Like it or not we've been heading down the real-time connectivity path for decades. When I was a kid my parents thought they would never have a cell phone, and that people who would use them were very rude. "Who is so important that they can't wait until they're home or at a payphone to make a call? Imagine the ego" they would say. Well, the users may still be rude, but they both have one now.

              I'm a twit

I actually use it, but not for what you might expect. I use it as a writing tool for my third grade classroom. Quickest way for my kids to write and publish 140 characters at a time. It seems limited, but plenty for a third grader. It blows them away that the world can see what they write. it also gives them ownership, which can also lead to better writing. I also post their assignments with it. Quick way to keep parents in the loop on what's going on in the classroom. You can do the same with other programs, but they aren't as easy as "type and hit send."

We don't use it to follow Ashton Kutcher or Oprah.
