    Woodworker's Journal snail-mail spam DVD

So I got an unsolicited DVD sent to me from Woodworker's Journal.

"if you like this DVD send us $9.95 and we will send you more, otherwise return it"

Anyone else get this, and am I wrong to be annoyed?

I got it too - haven't checked it out yet. But at least they say "you're under no obligation to return, but if you do, we can send it to another woodworker".

I wonder which mailing list got me signed up for that.

Yea, got it several months back. They have sent me a few more letters about signing up or returning it. I was annoyed as well. It's mine now.

I finally watched some of it recently. I have never watched any DVDs other than one that came with a box joint jig. It was a little informative, but nothing I'd ever want more of.

The law says you are under no obligation to return unsolicited items such as these, even if the mailer neglects to mention it...

I received a book from them, unsolicited, many months ago. I decided not to return it and not to pay for it either. That way perhaps they'll stop the unsolicited offerings.

I've gotten 2 of them in the past month. It is the same video, but one of them had a "Woodworker's Guild of Ameria" logo and the other had the Woodworker's journal logo on it. The DVD isn't that bad, but I sure won't be paying for it or bothering to send it back. I'm considering dropping my Woodworker's journal subscription if they are responsible for sending of the DVD's.

I got one also. Haven't returned or paid for it and have intention of doing so. May never watch it either. I wish some one would send me a Powermatic 2000 or a Saw Stop with out being asked or may a Vett.

I dropped them when they did the book club thing a while back and sent unsolicited books (I'd never signed up for their book club). You'll be getting an "invoice" soon if they are following the same practices. They may not call it one but it sure looked like one to me. Dropped them like a hot potato and never regretted it a second.

Yeah, the WJ book club was a huge turn off for me too so when the subscription expired it was no big loss to me.

Yeah, I got one, too. I was going to return it, but since it was unsolicited, I decided to keep it. Mostly to discourage them from sending any more.

I think Woodworkers' Journal is connected to Rockler.

So let's see, if you keep it, you're depriving some other poor woodworker the thrill of getting unsolicited crap.....hmmmmmmm tough decision...

Sounds like we are all on the same mailing list. Question is who is selling our addresses?

I think I'm still subscribed to the magazine. I also get books monthly or so for their Complete Woodworker's Library (the blue ones). The majority of those have been very good. There were a couple ones I sent back.
