    Either this guy is really hard on compressors, or HF compressors really suck!

    I've got an 8-gallon similar to the one in the picture and haven't had any problems, other than it's a loud sucker, typical of direct-drive units. Maybe he forgot to fill the oil?

      That was my thought, too. But you'd think he'd realize it after the first one died. IIRC, they come with a plethora of stickers telling the user to add oil before using.

        I've got a 5 gallon compressor from HF and it works great. The HF compressors sell w/o oil in them. I bet he forgot that important step.

          I've got a pancake compressor from HF that's still going strong after 5 years. It came with a little plastic jug of oil attached to the handle in a plastic bag. If that's not a hint, I don't know what is....

            all he had to do was go back to hf and they are pretty helpful at replacing things from what i see people bring back while i visited the store for my shopping list...
