    My boss is a Jerk

    And my travel agent stinks!

Can you imagine sending some one from Texas to Alaska this time of year? Here is what I found on the way to work today!

Traveling down the road to the site

I came upon this interesting sign

Pulled into the site, next years firewood

And here is the back side of the site it is spectacular

PS (I own the company and make my own travel arrangements)

Since you seem to know the boss fairly well, you should tell him he's a jerk. But be thankful for what you have. At least you have a job, even if he is a jerk.

Looks like good weather to practice your drifting.... I'd take that road in the first picture at like 80, then slam on the brakes as you turn.

LOML and I went up to Alaska on vacation almost a year ago now. Those pictures make me wish we were back there again!

Whereabouts in Alaska are you, exactly? We flew into Anchorage, went down the Kenai Peninsula as far as Seward, then backtracked North to Denali and, ultimately, to Fairbanks. We went in late May, so just about everywhere we went was almost thawed out by then. But, crazy as we are, we're thinking about a return trip during some winter!

Texas to Alaska, eh? That must have been a big shock!! Those are lovely pictures. Thanks for sharing! Reminds me a little about the week that I spent in Whitehorse (Yukon Territory) about 20 years ago in late October (and I loved it). Not sure what are you doing up there, but if you need an assistant ....

Long-time friends of ours live in Anchorage. They moved from Butte, Montana about 20 years ago so they could live in a warmer climate!

What, no problems with the volcano?

You didn't say where in Alaska. The pictures look like the area around Eagle River, just a little north of Anchorage. If it is, I have been to that sign -- it sure looks familiar.

                    Regards, Steve

I don't think you could get over 50 on that road, and then you would hit a tree for sure!

The pictures are from the Girdwood area between Anchorage ans Seward

I agree the scenery is just spectacular (it is the temperature that gets me)

They are there, I am not sure Arizona will let that much snow come into the state.

Nope snuck in last Wednesday, Seattle was still full of people stranded by the volcano, hoping to get out this Wednesday before another eruption. Staying in Anchorage!

Sign was on Crow Creek Roads in Girdwood.

Thanks for the reply. Been there too but I had forgotten that part of the historic Iditarod Trail does go near Girdwood. In fact, the end of Crow Creek Road is the start of a popular, but grueling, hiking trail from Gridwood to Eagle River.

Who knows what is going to happen now that they decided to pave a good part of Cold Creek Road (yes, there is pavement under some of that snow).

If you are on the company's nickle (even if you are the boss) you might try dinner at The Double Muskie. A pretty good restaurant in its own right, but made more famous by the references to its owner during the Ted Stevens trial debacle.
