    Back down memory lane again

How many do you remember? FWIW, I remember all of them.

Head lights dimmer switches on the floor.
    Ignition switches on the dashboard.
Heaters mounted on the inside of the fire wall.
    Real ice boxes.
Pant leg clips for bicycles without chain guards..
Soldering irons you heat on a gas burner.
Using hand signals for cars without turn signals.

    Older Than Dirt Quiz :

Count all the ones that you remember not the ones you were told about.
    Ratings at the bottom.

    1. Blackjack chewing gum
2.Wax Coke-shaped bottles with colored sugar water
    3. Candy cigarettes
4.. Soda pop machines that dispensed glass bottles
    5. Coffee shops or diners with tableside juke boxes
    6. Home milk delivery in glass bottles with cardboard stoppers
    7. Party lines on the telephone
    8.. Newsreels before the movie
    9. P.F. Flyers
    10. Butch wax
    11. TV test patterns that came on at night after the last show and were there until TV shows started again in the morning. (there were only 3 channels [if you were fortunate])
    12. Peashooters
    13. Howdy Doody
    14.. 45 RPM records
    15.. S& H greenstamps
    16. Hi-fi's
    17. Metal ice trays with lever
    18. Mimeograph paper
    19. Blue flashbulb
    20. Packards
    21. Roller skate keys
    22.. Cork popguns
    23. Drive-ins
    24. Studebakers
    25. Wash tub wringers

If you remembered 0-5 = You're still young
If you remembered 6-10 = You are getting older
If you remembered 11-15 = Don't tell your age,
If you remembered 16-25 = You're older than dirt!

That was later. Our stations (only 2) showed test patterns for only a half hour, then went off the air.

And, yeah, I'm older than dirt.

You must have been one of the rich kids. Mine was a 2 door '49 Plymouth 6 banger. It ran pretty good unless it rained.

Would you believe me if I said I remember most of these things only because my parents had them?

There is a factory in Smithville that was the only place in North America that made the cardboard milk caps back when the "pogs" were big.

Older than dirt here, too... although some of these were only around when I was very young.

Seen this before, but I still can't remember Blackjack gum. No problem on the rest of the list.

The local stations signed on with the National Anthem and signed off with "High Flight".

              Definitely an 'Old Fart' here!

There was something about those flathead 6 banger Plymouths. The '40 I inherited had the same problem. I always thought it was because of the wells the plugs sat in.

19 from experience, and I turn 39 this week. I still have S&H Greenstamps as I found a thing online to turn them in a few years back, as well as had a 45 of the Howdy Doody show.

#22 really brings back memories, as I lost my nose due to having one.
She couldn't tell the difference between the escape pod, and the bathroom. We had to go back for her.........................Twice.

My dad was a Milkman after WWII and so I know about glass bottles and Cardboard Caps. What about the bottles with the little chamber at the top where the Cream was? Still chew Black Jack gum. First car I had 49 Plymouth 4dr sedan. First race car I worked on was a 36 Plymouth Coupe with MOPAR Flat head 6 with 3 single barrel carbs running on Alki. It was a dirt track Hardtop/Jalopy. Used, owned most of the other stuff at one time or another. Used go to the original "Tower Records" and go into these little booths and listen to 45's, with my girlfriend (not LOML) I even have a few left, and turntable to play them on. OLd yes, sad no. The olden day weren't always the best, just simpler.

My first car was a Buick straight 8, 1948.

Remember getting a cork gun for Christmas too. Boy did I like that Black Jack gum and the little wax bottles of colored water. Dang those were the good ol' days...

                            I remember them all.

Before I left England, in 1951, I heard about American chewing gum. I took a bus into Southgate and went to the sweet shop with my sixpence. I bought Blackjack Gum. Well, I hated licorice, and still do. One chew and I spit it out. I couldn't see what the Americans saw in it.

My first car was a 1952 four door Oldsmobile. This was in 1959. It was also a tank. Very popular though. We could get 8 in for a trip to the beach.

                              Older than dirt

                              I got all 25 plus:

foot pressed Starter switch on the firewall above the gas pedal.

                              Studebaker and International Harvester pickups.

Battery under the floorboards. I had to clean off a half inch of dirt, remove the rubber floor mat, and remove the rusty floorboard to service the battery.

I was in the Army at Fort Huachuca, AZ; 1958-1960. The coke bottle dispenser always had a empty wooden coke case by the machine. When the bottler complained to the Fort commander about not getting any returns, he was told: he had a contract to deliver, shut up and comply.
