    She is alive and well

Just finished watching the Nationwide Race from Bristol. Guess who was there? For those of you into cars duing the 60's and on you will remember Miss Hurst Shifter aka Linda Vaughn. She still looks pretty good for some close to my age 60"s She had a Hurst Jacket on and the low cut top like years ago. She is there for the old timers race later this evening. Jerry Punch, Ned and Dale Jarrett in the both for that race, should be fun.

Man, that brought back memories from so long ago. That era hasn't entered my mind in years!

Of these names, Garlits came out with a monostrut winged Swamp Rat a couple of years ago and ran a few races, Prudomme is still VERY active as a team owner with several cars and bikes, Kenny's son is driving the Bud King now and Kenny was back in a Funny Car last year.

I would just as soon forget Shirley. When she won. she was the greatest driver ever to sit is a car. When she lost, she had the worst team working on her car. The fact that her opponent was setting the front end down at the 300 foot mark before she got the clutch out had no bearing on the outcome of the race.

Linda Vaughn was at the Barrett-Jackson auction last year. Showing her age from the neck up, but still looks petty good at all points south!

She was showing her age from the neck up back in 89' or so from what I was told. I never got farther than the neck when staring. Sometimes I think we are dirty old men but... it sure is fun.
