    A dumb computer question!

    I used to be able to do a screen capture and then transfer it to an e-mail screen that I was composing. I can't get anything to work;
    Ctrl+PrtSc and Alt+PrtSc are the things that I've tried.
    I thought one was a screen capture and the other an active window capture. But, I'm capturing nothing and the nothing isn't transferring.
    What's up with that?
    Blessings,
    Chiz

    Just hit PrintScreen and then copy it into whatever you wish. Printscreen saves a .bmp image of your screen as it is.

      Same here, in XP I just hit printscreen and Ctrl+V into whatever program I want.

        With my setup I can right-click 'copy' then paste it into an email, etc.

        But with a PrtSc, I have to open MSPaint, paste it and then save the image. Then it can be used anywhere.

        Maybe you had an Clipboard applet that worked with the PrtSc to give you that feature?
        You might think I haven't contributed much to the world, but a large number

          Yea, I did that too. But when I do a Ctrl + V, nothing displays on the e-mail screen (IE 6). It does paste it to a word processing screen. I used to post it to Paint but that portion of my XP program must be corrupted because Windows locks up when I try to use it. When I get it to post on the WP program I can't stretch it enough to be legible - too grainy.

            I did a left click and drag, highlighting and then a copy command. That transferred to a IEbut it's huge. Well, it worked for what I needed. Thanks for the quick response.

              If you're running XP or Vista, use the Snipping Tool. It's a free add-on for XP, included with Vista as I recall.

              Much better and more flexible than <Alt>+<PrintScr>
