    An Update On My Daughter

Fever is more or less gone. She has pneumonia and strep, antibiotics are working. Her O2 levels were down around 88 yesterday evening but are back almost normal now. She also had some fluid in her left lung that seems to be gone, after the latest Xray today. Depending on her O2 levels, she may come home this evening but will be housebound for at least a week.

    Thanks for everything.

    Here she is:

That's great news David. Now take the rest of the day off to go hug your little girl; or are you already working from home today?

I am home and officially not working. Yesterday my boss called and said don't worry about work. However, I don't like sitting around worrying so after I came home from the hospital with my oldest I did some busy work and finished up a report while she had her quiet time.

She is a real charmer, in a few years you will be fighting the boys off with a stick.

Lets hope now that no one else gets sick, especially Dr. Mom

Excellent news for me.. you really don't know just how excellent. I didn't mention it but my wife had a similar situation 11 years ago when she was 39. Bronchitas turned to pneumonia on a lower tip of the lung. 3 days latter a 104 temperature and couldn't breathe. When 911 got here she was about 75 on breathing and they gave her immediate oxegen.

Fifty two days on a Jet respirator.. no response to any anti-biotice.. 3 collapsed lungs.. 8 chest tubes and a prognosis of it's not likely she will make it... a tracheometry resulted in her waking up from a 52 day induced coma on morphine to ask for her credit card. Another 30 days in the hospital. Duke University was involved and they to this day have no clue why all this happened. They called it simply "the summer miracle" and chalked it up to Adult Respiratory Syndrome as everything from AIDS.. ebola.. etc. was checked for. In other words.. they don't have a clue.

One of life's mysteries... so never... never... take these things or your loved one's for granted as you just never know. Trust me on that...

                            Congratulations on her return home...
