    hearing vision protection

Aside from squinting, does anyone use those combination safety glasses/earplugs and how effective are they? Rockler had a pair by radians but they are sold out. Looked like a good idea.

I have a pair of prescription safety glasses that I got at Walmart for not a lot of money (less than $50 I believe). My wife calls them my dorktacles.

For hearing I use a pair of over the ear muff type protectors - but for long term use, I have a set of custom made ear plugs that I got from my audiologist.

I use a pair of bifocal safety glasses and Peltor earmuffs. Sometimes I use the foam ear plugs if I know I'll be wearing them most of the day.

I tried one of those combination hard hat-hearing-eye protectors and nothing fit, it was a mess.

I use Peltor hearing guards and polycarbonate safety glasses.

As for me, I wear prescription lenses( supplied by work) and muffs. Sometimes when the tools get too loud, I wear the foam plugs inside of the muffs. I already suffer from tinitus and don't want it getting any worse.

I wear safety glasses and ear muffs. I have 3 pairs of each, one in shop, one in shed and the third stays with my portable tool kit. I use a full face shield when I am doing something with the angle grinder that throws a lot of sparks.

I had a pair of the Radians (combination safety glasses and hearing protection). I wore them while running my chainsaw, and found them comfortable and effective. OK, they look a little strange, but hey - They work! I lost mine on a fire somewhere, and plan to replace them.

I also have a custom made set of ear plugs from "Big Ear" which are by far the most comfortable hearing protection I've ever worn, but the Radians were especially nice for those times when you may want to take them on/off fairly often.

                Hope this helps!

Those AV Radians do look neat. I wonder how they would work as well. http://www.radians.com/main/p-72-radians-av.aspx

My gut would tell me that it would probably be hard to get a good fit. I've tried few types of glasses that didn't really fit, and a couple types of muffs. Never really liked plugs at all. Getting them both to work togeather might be difficult.

I really like my Uvex glasses and a set of Peltor worktunes.

I bought a couple pair when they were on sale. They fog up quickly and the hearing protection is not all that good.

I don't use them as much as I thought I would.
