    LaserMonks

No this is not a joke. A group of Cistercian monks based in Sparta, WI (about 20 miles from where I live) market remanufactured inkjet cartridges and soy-absed laser jet products.

You can read their story here:

It looks like a win-win idea: save money and support charitable causes. I have not yet purchased their products but plan to do so the next time the ink runs out and hope to make a visit to their abbey sometime in the future--great bike ride along the La Crosse-Sparta bike trail.

I used to buy my cartridges from them but success has spoiled them. Their prices used to be great but now they're just normal. I will give them an A+ for customer service though because every time I got a bad cartridge from them they shipped out a no charge replacement very quickly. It's been some time since I've ordered from them so maybe they are back to offering killer pricing but the last time I checked I could buy better locally and save the shipping charge to boot.

I have not bought from them recently either but my past purchases were always great - good service and good prices.

Doesn't sound like quality is very good here.

Sorry to say, but Amazon, amongst others, has better prices. I think I'll keep my charity and ink purchases separate,at least for now.

UC, I really didn't mean to imply that. I usually only buy refilled cartridges and not brand new ones so a bad cartridge every now and again is acceptable to me. That is, as long as whomever I'm buying them from makes good on the bad one.

Buying from LaserMonks also helps support the economy of western WI...

I thought that was Tommy Bartlet's job.

I think the owner of Tommy Bartlet tries, but the whole lake Delton disappearing thing last summer kind of put a crimp on the ski-show. Though from what I remember I think they kept the show running with extra stage acts to keep the kids working there employed...

On ink/toner cartridge refills the quality/performance is not acceptable in a work environment. At home maybe, but I do relatively little personal printing so my toner lasts long enough (year+) that I'll use the OEM models...

Having bought refill's in the past that would not work in my HP printer I now shy away from them. Original cartridge's must have a chip in them cause my machine says; "OH yeah you bought a fake cartridge. Sorry Dud I cannot except it" Well it doesn't actually say that but the results were the same!
