    Started Physio-Good news/Bad news

So this morning I had my first physio session. The therapist was able to confirm what the doctor said about my back. No nerve damage. The pain is from when the muscles twisted beyond where they should have. In fact the pain is greater than the damage as a defense so I don't strain my back even more. Bad news is that my back can go back out at any time. I have to continue on restricted duties at work, start a stretching and execise routine, and pay a number of visits back to physio.

Can't wait to get back into the shop.

Watch those PTs.... I think they all are closet Sadists. I call mine Atilla the Honey; she's about 5-foot nothin', strong as any two men, and completely merciless. Most of our conversations go like this:

Atilla: "Is your arm getting tired?"
    Me: "Yes."
Atilla: "Good! Give me 20 more reps."

If the therapy weren't so effective I doubt I'd put up with it.

DO the exercises faithfully! You'll be amazed how quickly you're back in the shop....

    And good luck!

Do you the difference between a PT and a terrorist?

You can negotiate with a terrorist!

I had the same injury while in basic training 43 years ago. My back would go out fairly regularly 'til my allergist noticed I was hurting.

He had worked for Sister Kenny back in the day and showed me exercises to do 5 days a week.

That and hot and cold packs have kept the old back in good shape for over 30 years. (And I hate exercise.)

He also told me that my 20's were my last maintenance-free decade.
You might think I haven't contributed much to the world, but a large number
of the warning labels on tools can be traced back to things I've done...
