And people say there is no innocence left in the world

I was delivering my corporate security training session yesterday and got to the part about inappropiate internet usage. I put up the slide with the list of forbidden activities and started going through them one by one. A very soft voice calls from the back with a question...

I looked over and there was this fresh faced maybe 18-19 yr old girl who proceeds to ask "I like to go to CNN and keep up on world events, is that an explicit site?"

    BLINK...BLINK

The woman next to her leans over before I can respond and says "He means pornography." That poor girl turned such a bright shade of red I wondered if she would burst into flame.

Ummm, no, CNN is not an explicit site.

I wonder if I burst her bubble by pointing out that people actually do such things at work and there are other people who make a living catching them.

There is a John Deere plant up the road from my work who busted around half of their managers and supervisors for having "smut" on their computers.

I was watching the news the other night, and they were talking about that. I don't remember what the percentage of people was who were on porn sites at work, but it was astonishingly high.

So in true BOFH style, did you place stuff on her pc, and modify its time and date stamps? LOL
She couldn't tell the difference between the escape pod, and the bathroom. We had to go back for her.........................Twice.

We had a neighbor in Pittsburgh, Pa that had his own firm, I think it was construction. His dad had also put money in the firm. All I know was indirect but what us neighbors were told is he got addicted to porn, bankrupted his business (probably more from not working than what he spent on the porn but who knows), got divorced, and created a substantial financial hardship for his dad.

Pretty steep consequence for looking at porn at work. Addictions to anything tend to really mess up your life, I guess.
