I had a raging sinus infection a week ago when I got the word I was flying from Tampa to Singapore. I ran to the doctor the day before the flight and he was not at all happy, but no choice so he got out the pad and started writing. Antibiotic, steroid dose pack, decongestant and an inhaler since I was wheezing a little. Then he seemed to think for a minute and wrote again, hands me a prescription for vicoden and says "you're going to need this".
It didn't seem too bad at first but the pain in the sinuses was amazing after a few minutes. I wouldn't want to know what it felt like without the painkiller. It did get better though about an hour into the flight by which time I was almost reduced to tears when I heard bubble...bubble...loud pop and whistle. It was like the hand of god passed over my face when the pressure released. I never knew your head could hold so much liquid.
I appear to be over the worst and have since hopped another flight and am currently in Kuala Lumpur for a few days. If anyone lives here I'd be happy to buy you a beverage of choice if you can get to the Shangri-La.
