    To stop sofa from moving

My living/family rooms are tiled, and the sofa/couches in both keep sliding around. Any suggestions on what works to keep this from happening?

I cut up a pilate mat and placed small pieces under the legs, and it worked, sorta, for some time, but not satisfactorily.

    Google threw up this http://www.floor-protection-resource...75-Gripper-Pad

But looking closely it says 'reduces furniture movement', so may it only works so-so?

Anyway, what do you think is the material for it - maybe I could just make some at home? Ordering seems a hassle; might check out HD for something.

I wonder if that high friction tape would work?

Still have to order it though.

Could just spill some coke on the tile, everything sticks to that.

      Pocket screws and epoxy. Jk

I have seen these listed before, no idea how well they work:

Tell me about it - that might be an idea!
Apropos of that, an anecdote : once i needed a soda and the 'fridge was bare. I did not want a warm one, so I just dropped a sunkist can into the freezer 'for a minute'. Well, the neighbor came in to borrow a tool and I went over and forgot all about the can in the freezer. Much time later LOML heard a loud pop sound and opened the freezer to see that the can had burst and spilled orange soda all over inside the freezer, and also on the kitchen floor etc . Took me a week to clean that up, and forever for her to stop mentioning it . So I know the longevity and stickiness of soda on tile!

Alan, that link might work - claims "even jumping into the Bed, Chair or Couch will not move it!" ; but it does look like plain rubber, maybe i should get some of that from HD . (yeah, i cannot stop thinking of making instead of buying).

How about cutting up a mouse pad -- the old style that are 1/2" thick? Hmmm, maybe they only have those in museums anymore.

          How about double-stick foam tape?

          Regards,
          Tom

You might try that non-slip shelf lining stuff. It looks like knit but is made of rubber.

You can also pick it up at Wally World.

How about an old piece of router pad? Or a snippet (what's a snippet??!) of 'carpet holding stuff'? (that's the technical term!)

                How about Plasi-Dip!
Why doesn't the word 'planing' show up in my computer spell check?

I am not sure from the post but if your sofa/couches are sectional and you want them to stay together - there is a product called sofa snap.
                  http://www.sofasnap.com
                  I use it, works well.

I just lay on mine - very still - usually with the remote.

My wife asks me what I am doing, I saw "keeping the couch from moving."

                      slides

looking for a cheap solution?? try the kitchen drawer inserts,, they look and act similar to router non-slip pads!! in fact I use these instead of the expensive pads!! I get mine in dollar general or family dollar. don't know how they will work on real heavy stuff like a sofa though!!

Think I'm gonna try all the suggestions sequentially; I have a bunch of old kitchen inserts that I could try rightaway.

Dave, I think if I tried your method, I might get to sleep on the same couch as a reward...
