    I feel encouraged!

My oldest sister who just turned 69 has been a chronic complainer about health issues for 15 to 20 years. My mom, (just before she died in '05) told me that Barbara was in bad health. (Barbara has always been on the slim side.)

Anyway, about a year and a half ago, I detected a sudden rise of energy in Sis's voice as I talked to her over the phone. This youthful attitude pervailed for a few months and then I asked her "Why?"

She said: "You know I have been teaching Sunday School for the past 20 years." I answered in the affirmative. She then replied: "Well, I had been teaching young adults. A few months ago they asked me to teach the 75 and older class. Now I feel so young!"

    What a difference "perspective" makes!

I can remember when I was a teenager I had convinced myself I had only 20-30 more years to be active. Now, approaching those "Golden Years" I forget about my age when engulfed in very physical activities. I may get a little winded for a few moments, but that's just a reminder and a regulatory function to keep me at a certain rate. I've always been a very physical person and maintained good conditioning. But, realizing my limits comes with wisdom.

Some activities I still do like I did as a 25 year old. Of course the next day I may regret it, but it still doesn't limit my trying. If I set limited goals, my goals would be limited. I just can't think like that.
