    Whoa Nellie!!

    .
Look at the picture above, and you can see where this driver
broke through the guardrail, on the right side of the culvert,
where people are standing on the road, pointing.

The pick-up was traveling about 75 mph, from right to left,
when it crashed through the guardrail.

It flipped end-over-end, bounced off and across the culvert outlet,

and landed right-side-up on the left side of the culvert,
facing the opposite direction from which the driver was traveling.

The 22-year-old driver and his 18-year-old passenger
were unhurt, except for minor cuts and bruises.

Just outside Flagstaff , AZ on U.S. Hwy 100.

Now, look at the second picture below . . .
    .

Is that real? I can't believe the two guys would be standing there like that. They are standing right at the edge of the cliff.

If it is real, then the bozo who was driving will have some amazing pics to use as a topper. "Oh yeah, that's nothing, I almost fell off a cliff..."

Here's the rest of the story: http://www.snopes.com/photos/accident/culvert.asp

Looks like there was no end-over-end flip. Still the bozo was luckier than he deserved.

Nope not quite. If you read the SNOPES.COM link you would have seen the aerial view. Also the fire rescue truck is parked at more of an angle in relationship to the light source (ie the sun) than the ambulance therefor the reflectance difference. Also photos with more depth of field will have more contrast therefor the so called hard edges. Also when photographing something with an edge going from sunlit to shadow the edge will be more defined. You then have an edge with high contrast via depth of field and a shadow to bright light source combined to make it truly stand out. Quite frankly I just don't see the repetition of features the refuter if trying to point out in the middle below the culvert. Don't know where you got that refutation photo but if you know the person who did it he deserves a hard verbal spanking. He may know photoshop but he does not seem to know anything about photography.

Photographs show a truck that crashed through a highway barrier and jumped a culvert on the edge of a cliff.

The image looks strange because its aspect ratio is incorrect (it is 'squished' horizontally)
