YAY! I've been a huge Steelers fan since I was a little kid in the early 70's even though I lived in archrival Cleveland Browns' country. It should be a very good Superbowl with the high-flying Cards against the Steelers crushing defense.

I enjoy the Super Bowl. It reminds me that Spring Training is coming soon.

I'll be out in the shop that Sunday--I don't understand a game where 22 guys fight over a ball that doesn't roll right...

I just realized this post could be considered political/religious! It's meant as a gentle nudge at all you football guys/gals. LOML has already told me not to disturb her at all that day, which I interpret as permission to go tool shopping...

                  Superbowl rant

I am a huge football fan, but truth be told, I generally find the Superbowl to be much less exciting than the championship games. The main reason is that too many Superbowl "fans" are not real fans. Face it, to buy tickets, airfare, and lodging, it costs a LOT of money to go to the big game. For the most part, the people who buy the tickets are not even fans of either team, they just want to be at the game no matter who is playing and they bought their tickets long before the teams were decided.

I love the home field advantage of the playoffs and the REAL fans that cheer week in and week out in the stands no matter what the weather.

I would rather attend a World Series game 7 of my favorite baseball team than go to a Superbowl. When 99% of the crowd is dressed alike and rooting for the home team, it is an amazing atmosphere. At the Superbowl, even the die-hard fans that do go, are intermixed in the stands with rich folks who go to the game just because they can.

There have been some amazing Superbowls, but there have been many, many amazing championship games.

While I am on a rant, am I the only one who hates going to Superbowl parties? Once again, the majority of the people attending don't give a hoot about the teams and spend most of the game chatting, blocking the TV and crunching on snacks. I'd rather watch the game alone or with a few true football fans and leave the partying to others.

JeffG78; Does this mean that you don't think Arizona has a chance?

No, where did you get that idea?

I think it will be a very interesting matchup. Arizona has been playing great ball lately and it will be fun to see how their powerful offense does against the league's best defense. On the other hand, the Steelers had a hard time running against the Ravens' great defense, but ran all over Cleveland and San Diego. Unlike the Steelers/Ravens game where the two teams are mirror images of each other, the Steelers and Cardinals are quite different. I think the Steelers will win, but nothing is a sure thing. That's why they play the game

Ohhh, sorry... That wasn't very nice of me. BTW, I would only joke about this after I heard he was released from the hospital and will make a full recovery.

Having grown up outside of Cleveland and being a Browns fan since the 60's, I can honestly say....."What's a Superbowl?"

....and however difficult it is for me to say this, I must say:

                            CONGRATULATIONS STEELERS!!

While my favorite team will always be the Browns, my SECOND favorite team is.....WHOEVER IS PLAYING THE RAVENS!!!

I thought I would pitch into this thread even though its full of Steelers fans

I tend to agree with some of your remarks. To be honest I am not much of a football fan but as with probably the majority of other Arizonans I am just stunned that the Cardinals have made it to the Superbowl and it will make our Superbowl parties this year a lot more fun.

I am a big baseball fan and agree totally with your World Series comment. When the Dbacks won back in 2001 it was like one long party from the first playoff game to that final run. If I could have got hold of tickets for that final game I would have paid a lot of money. As it was we had a great party outside using my digital projector and a 12' screen. When Gonzales hit the winning "blooper" we knew that many others were doing the same thing as we could hear roars and screams from other backyards all around our neighbourhood.

                              Either way
