By Thursday evening I have to write two paragraphs that explain why I think all the talk about climate change distracts us from a bigger issue, which is the extent to which we can be held hostage by unfriendly governments. I think this is going to help make the point.

I'm surprised the contracts with Russia's gas company don't include penalties for non-delivery. It also shows the need for solidarity . . . Russia may not need Ukraine, but it does need other European goods.
