    Tom,

I saw in another post, that you are back from your anniversary trip. So....Did you eat at the needle and how was it? What else did you like? I think LOML and I are going up there later in the year.

Report on a weekend in Seattle

Memo to self. Get in shape before returning to Seattle.

We had a weekend to remember in Seattle. I made so many brownie points I could buy and whole Powermatic shop and get away with it.

I dedicated this weekend to what ever LOML wanted to do, no woodworking ie. Grizzly no NASCAR, did watch the end of the Nationwide Race on Saturday afternoon before Dinner.

I was able to get $50 each way flights on Southwest. Also was able to get a real good room rate on Priceline for the hotel so save a bunch there.

Memo to self get off your fat arse into the Gym before next trip and get in shape

Left Sacramento Thursday Afternoon and had a nice flight into Seattle, took a cab to the hotel. We stayed at the "Inn at Harbor Steps" on 1st Ave. in Downstown Seattle. 2 blocks to Pikes Market and a steep block up from the harbor. Nice hotel it is locate on the bottom 2 floors of a 25 stroy apartment building one of 4 in the complex. Very nice room, the hotel had wine, cheese and Hors O'oeuvres in the afternoon and breafast in the morning. We decided on hotel downtown so we wouldn't have to rent a car. We took a cab to the Space Needle for a 7pm dinner and this is were I made points. I had ordered a single rose and vase, a bottle of Champange with 2 etched glasses and the special dessert, a sundae called the Lunar Orbiter. We were seated by the window 500+ feet up and had a spetacular view on a clear night in Seattle. The food was good though a little pricey. Had good steak dinner and a great Shrimp Bisque for an appitizer. took the half empty bottle of Champange back to the hotel with us on the Monorail. Kind of a cold walk 5 blocks walk down to the hotel, did I say Seattle has a lot of hills. Sat by the fire place in our room and finished the champange. It was cold there but we came prepared so when in Seattle in the winter do as the residents do bundle up.

Friday morning we were off to Pikes Place Market and spent most of the morning there before walking down to the Crab Pot on the waterfront for lunch and then to the Harbor Tour, which is a 2 1/2 -3 hr. boat ride around the harbor through the locks to Lake Union and the Bus ride back to the starting point. That was interesting and fun had a great guide who blew all my wife myths about "Sleepless in Seattle" and the houseboat. The only trouble with being on the wateerfront is having to walk back UP to the hotel. This 67year old in not in shape for going up hill. The was a lot of heavy breathing while in Seattle and not always in the Hotel room. Had dinner that night at Elliotts Seafood on the waterfront.Great meal.
Saturday went back to Pikes Market after breafast and had coffee and pastry at a French Pastry shop, good pastry and coofee. Then walked UP to the Seattle Art Museum which was accross from the hotel. After a few house there down to the waterfront and lunch at the Crab Pot. After lunch took the Ferry over the Brainbridge Island and spent a few hours there and back to Seattle for dinner at McCormick and Smechks. Another great meal they even personalized the menu for us by printing in honor of our 43 Wedding Aniversary on it.

Sunday a nice breakfast at the hotel and then a Towncar ride out to the Airport and a bouncy ride home. It was rough enough the drinks were not served on the flight.

We had a great weekend and LOML thourghly enjoyed the trip. Seattle has become our new favorite place to visit. San Francisco used to be but Seattle is much nice and friendlier and maybe a little cheaper. I seem a lot cleaner and not as many Tourist as SF at leat at this time of the year. The dinner at the Space Needle was pricey but was worth it for the experience and to see the smile on LOML we were treated like royalty. The othere places we at were not cheap but had great food and service. I even supprised LOML by putting on shirt and tie for dinner at the Space Needle and at McCormicks on Saturday.

If you are going to walk in Downtown Seattle you had better be in shape it was rough. We will be going back and taking our own car and staying at the same hotel as they have parking that way we can drive or walk depending and where we are going. Seattle is a beautiful City and has much more to see. Nice to be home but will be ready to go again when the weather get nicer. I do have to get in shape, I reall let my self go this past year and gaind 20 pounds from not being as active because of physical ailments. So off the the Doctor to see what can be done about my legs and shoulder so I can get in better shape before we go the Cancun with my youngest Son and his family, they are taking us to pay us back for taking care of our youngest grandaughter. They have timeshare there so I had better loose the tummy so I can wear a speedo. The grandaught has already told me the we have to go swimming with the Dolphins. Seattle is a great place to visit and will be going back soon, to much more to see. The people are much nicer there than in SF and it seem to be a slower pace of life there.
