Well This Is Going Nowhere Fast

I am in a meeting to plan a meeting. I thought I'd never have to do that again when I switched jobs. OTH, it is probably a good thing cuz the firestorm with the customer starts tomorrow. Here's a tip: if your boss ever comes to you and says 'I have an opportunity for you', or a challenge, or whatever, RUN. Run far, far away.

A meeting to plan a meeting?

Sounds like the Army, except we have 2 pre-meetings to plan the meeting to plan the meeting.....

I understand how you feel. I was in the nuclear power industry a while back...And we had an 8AM meeting, a "post meeting tailboard meeting", an 1100 safety meeting, lunch (of course) , and an afternoon meeting (complete with it's *own* tailboard meeting).....And this was DAILY!

Once, I asked "If we're sitting around all day talking about running the plant...Who's actually running it?"

Needless to say, *that* didn't go over well.

One of my friends has so many meetings that, when somebody asks him what he does, he answers "I don't know...".

It used to be a lot worse. I used to be a professional meeting-goer on a slow day I was in meetings 5hrs a day.

A couple had an inflatable child. Every school they sent him to made fun of him and bullied him. They were at their wits' end, when they heard of an inflatable school. It was run for inflatable children and staffed by inflatable teachers, etc. They moved house and sent him to the new school.

Unfortunately, his start was mid-way through the current school period, so - once again - he was ostracized and bullied. One day, during math, he picked up a pair of compasses and began stabbing the school walls. A teacher approached him, but he stabbed her too, then began to stab himself. He was hauled off the the principal's office, where he managed to stab the principal before he was finally disarmed.

The principal said "Look, this behaviour has got to stop. We all appreciate how difficult it is for you to find your niche in this period of change, but you must look at the bigger picture. The main reason your behaviour must change should be obvious, but if it is not, let me summarize it for you:

You've let the school down, the staff down, you've let me down and you've let yourself down!"

Whenever I was at a boring meeting, this always used to ease its way into my head!

                  Ray.

Having been self-employed for over five years I recently accepted an invitation to join my church's Board of Governing Elders, just so I can attend a couple meetings a month and remember how good it is to not have to attend meetings!

I do not have any meetings today, but I have decided that I will shower, get dressed and shave sometime before noon anyway.

One of the good things about being self-employed is that you save on clothes and laundry. The bad part is that slippers wear out really fast when you wear them more than 12 hours every day.
