      yup, there are also other little irritating devices that make the tv-b-gone seem quite tame, most of them emit a hard to pinpoint noise at random intervals, something quite irritating, and small enough to hide anywhere, and with a long enough battery life that your office would be "unlivable" for weeks on end...

      that said, funny and childish

              That reminds of 6th grade when a classmate plugged the classroom movie projector into an on/off clicker outlet that used similar technology as the Clapper. Circa 1972. He had a field day for about 10 minutes, then got clobbered with the teacher's edition history book!

                That was great! I had a buddy that got a universal remote and some IR repeaters and he used to have a field day with his roomate's TV.
