What Is This Tool???

LOML got this tool as a gift today. It is 8" long, 1.25" high, and ½" thick. It's a household tool...what is it?

Hey, one I have seen before. I don't know the real name but I have heard them called kitchen rabbits. They are for pulling/pushing the hot oven racks. I guess it can be used for trays too.


(There isn't one in our kitchen but I've seen them in WW books)

That is my guess also but Mark made the one that I used to have. It doesn't look the same as the picture.

What Richard said. My mom had one while I was growing up. Different handle shape but same basic business end. We just called it a rack puller.

I may just do that. But I don't want to invade your space . On second thought I don't want to do that I just want to nag about getting one.

Wellsir, the Mrs. was at home and I was at work. Before Thomas she was enjoying spending time in the shop. I'm just trying to encourage her to do so once again as our older kids can now take care of lil' brother.

Sure looks like something you could open a 5 gallon pail of mud with, perhap with a little modification. Of course, 'we mens' would never convert a kitchen utensil to be used for some other purpose:-)

What is this Tool?

It's generically called a hot oven rack puller and they've been around for years. Most of them have been simplistic but there's one posted online called the Oven Claw that is like a work of art. I'm waiting for them to get their inventory in and then I'm going to purchase one from their website. It's the best one I've ever found. See http://www.ovenclaw.com I think you'll agree. BTW, watch their video. It shows you how it works with a holiday turkey.
