    Apple Worm

Don't know what my post count will show now as I have just spent two days getting my Apple back to the land of the living. Can't explain what the problem was but lost all my files, pics, email url's and bookmarks. Now don;t say it; of course I KNEW I should have backed up everthing...but!! Anyway am back in at least a limited way. Lets see if this post will fly.

Ooo -- that's rough. I'm sorry to hear about that!!

Let me recommend carbonite.com for secure, behind-the-scenes, and mindlessly simple online backup. (I paid $80 for 2 years.) If interested, let me know and I'll email a referral, which I think would get us each a subscription extension.

Couldn't be a worm or virus. Macs don't get those....

At least not many... I wonder if the problem was really a worm (haven't heard anything on the boards about a Mac worm/virus lately) or maybe a hard drive issue.

I'm only an amateur Mac IT guy; don't quote me on this...

Thanks for the offer FRANKE. My email is "ljeffrie@twcny.rr.com". I'm going to have the OS upgraded to "Lepoard" after the new year. I had to reinstall the original OS which was Panther". Then had an upgrade to the next OS which was X10.4 (can't remember the trade name) that was the one that screwed up. Guess it wasn't really a worm or whatever, but I had downloaded a couple of software updates. Then the next time I opened it, nothing but garbage on the screen, just would not boot up.
