    Terminator TV show question

I don't watch the Terminator TV show but stumbled on it tonight. A bad
terminator gets sent back to the wrong time. That got me to thinking, why
don't they figure out John Connor's geneology and send the terminator back as
far as they can and terminate him? Did the show explain why the terminators
only travel within Connor's lifetime (like Quantum Leap)?

Because the writers said so? Honestly with shows like these if you try make sense of them you just end up getting frustrated.

But to answer your question I don't ever recall them explaining that. But even if they explained that scenario there would be 100 others right behind it.
I reject your reality and substitute my own.

Flight of fancy. There was a great sci-fi series a few years ago called Firefly, created by Joss Wheadon of Buffy fame. It was a cross between Star Trek and the Wild Wild West. Too bad it was canceled after the first season, because the stories, the scenery and the imagery were fantastic. And this is coming from someone who does not watch TV or see many movies.

This is based on the movies. In the first one, they sent back a terminator to kill John Conners mother. When it was back in time it killed Sarah Conners mother, in order to try to get to her. It ALSO killed EVERY Sarah Conner in a certain area, due to the records being destroyed in the nuclear holocaust.

So they only knew which one to target, when she started getting away. Then if you watch the deleted scenes, you see where the first movie ended, a few guys talking about bits of the terminator they found and were hiding from the crime lab there (since they were supposed to have national security clearance and contacts). The camera leaves the building and shows it is the place that develops the technology that becomes the artificial intelligence and eventually the terminators. So she is there destruction AND their origin.
Now, I have never seen the tv show, since it is always been on, when I am at work.
She couldn't tell the difference between the escape pod, and the bathroom. We had to go back for her.........................Twice.

LinuxRandal got it. I loved the Terminator movies. Haven't really watched the show much.
