    Amazon cancels price protection

Not sure this goes here or bargain alerts, but since it is not a bargain, nor a piece of merchandise, I'll stick it here.

For those that used this feature, Amazon has cancelled their price protection feature as of September 2008. Maybe I missed it, but I just discovered it the hard way when my wife ordered a second humdifier at a price well above what we payed for the first last year. I know amazon regularly changes its pricesbut, but also remembered that Amazon does a 30 day price protection that if they offer it cheaper within 30 days, and you ask for it, they'll refund the difference. So instead of cancelling the order or shopping around, I let it ride and figured I'd put in for the price reduction if neccessary. Sure enough, price went down, then up, then down lower, then up almost as much, then really down low to near last year's levels. So I put for the price protection and was told no longer offered system wide as of September.

Bummer to be sure, and beware. But also stupid on their part me thinks since I had grown accostmed to just ordering and feeling protected if the price went lower. Sometimes I didn't care, sometimes I cared btu didn't watch diligently, and sometmies I watcehd and put in for the refund, but in any event Amazon was generally the go to place for much stuff. Now? not so much. Will either shop around or watch amazon for price trends. More work for me, but lost business for them. Anyone know of a price trend watcher for Amazon?

Well anyway, just a heads up. Do with it what you will.

    Amazon Price Tracking

www.frozenwarrior.com tracks Amazon.com pricing trends. You can enter an ASIN or ISBN number and they will track that item and alert you to a change in price via an email. They also have price trend graphs on the website.

Yah I heard about that a couple of months ago. Didn't know when they were going to implement it though. They also canceled many Amazon accounts siting too many returns by that individual. There's a long thread started by someone this happened to. They also canceled payments via check/money order.
I reject your reality and substitute my own.

Thanks for the re-poast on the frozenwarrior link. I lost it somehow.
