    Leonard's Losers

Since it's game day, I was just thinking how much I miss Leonard's Losers--Leonard Postero died in 2001.

My dad was a college football FANATIC and I'll never forget listening to Leonard's Losers with him before the games. Leonard was generally right on the money back in those days when Alabama and Georgia were the main teams of interest in my neck of the woods.

That was before ESPN and 24/7 talk radio, mind you.

I remember listening to a local CFB show on the radio with my dad after listening to the Buckeyes games. It was a weekly tradition. Callers would call in with scores from all over the area. Again, this was before ESPN.

I love the nostalgia, but wouldn't trade ESPN for those days.

Forgot all about that until you brought it up. There is a generation out there that does not know what good sports casting entertainment can be.

My Dad played semi pro ball when he was young, before I was born, and I grew up on baseball. I can remember laying in the floor next to his bed, listening to game broadcasts before there was television coverage. With a good announcer you could 'see' the action in detail. You learned to tell how a ball was hit by the crack of the bat.
