    SoCal Fires: Your prayers welcome

If you haven't heard, SoCal has been hit this morning with a BUNCH of wildfires being driven by what are being called "hurricane force" winds, alot of damage being done - the LA/North OC area is totally blanketed with smoke, and its raining ash everywhere.

    Bill,

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. The fire a month ago came within 1/2 mile of us.

Luckily, the 2003 fire burned most of the fuel. It came right up to our property line. The short telephone poles are our property line. The flames were 30 to 40' high. The heat was awful 100 yards away. The firefighters were amazing.

You got 'em, Bill. We had some fires when I lived in San Diego, but they were never like these... Good luck.

Here is a video that gives you an idea what the winds and fires have been like out here on the left coast. This is in Sylmar about 12 miles from my house.

Santa Barbra has really bad fires right now too. We are having the perfect storm of an extra long season of hot weather and no rain yet. 210 homes burned and a significant portion of Westmont college.

I'm fortunate enough not to have any of the fires near me. But I did see a huge ball of smoke as I was driving to my brother's house in Irvine today. He thinks it might be in Yorba Linda. It's amazing that it's almost Thanks Giving and we're still getting them in SoCal. My prayers go out to you guys who are close to these fires. Stay Safe.

You can tell the wind is blowing hard.

There are a couple of major electric transmission lines that come together in Sylmar. I hope none of them have burned. That would be really bad news - rolling blackouts.
