    Sirius XM Merger

Looks like we are finally seeing the effects. Last couple weeks Sirius NFL network has been reminding listeners they can catch NFL radio on XM Now they are advertising that it will move to same channel on XM as Sirius. And Sirius subscribers can add 'best of XM' package to their Sirius subscription.

They replaced my Buzzsaw station (heavy classic rock) with 24-7 AC/DC. I like AC/DC, up to a point, but that's a bit nuts.

    Just a vent.

What's the current subscription rate for XM? I've been tempted for years but slow on the draw.

Now that they're all 'one big happy family', screwing us in concert as it were, I believe the price is still 12.95 a month.

They have some 'plans' for more and less (something like 6-7 a month for 50 channels?) but so far I haven't seen any real details or offers on them.
Stern was swearing up and down how things would be cheaper and better when this happened, so far it's neither as far as I can see. Big surprise.

Whatever it is, it's more than I'm willing to pay. If it music I want, I have an MP3 player with just about anything I want on it. If it's sports, I probably won't listen to it on the radio unless it's a local team playing.

It is cheaper and better, they just leave out some important words.......

FOR THEM. They now have BOTH subscriber bases to pay Stern out of.

I agree with Ed, it seems against my better judgement to pay for something that I've been accustomed to getting free for so long. I know that the radio's have tailored content, but I just cant see another monthly leach.

I mostly listen to talk radio and most of that is NFL Network stuff. On long trips, having my choice of commmercial free music is VERY nice. When the kiddies take their naps I can listen to NFL games or other talk radio. I didn't believe in it either until we put it in my wife's van and took our first road trip.

I subscribed to sirius because the radio stations in my area are TERRIBLE. they have about a 10 song rotation and are all owned by 2 companies, not to mention I don't like what they play. I figured it was the cost of a CD per month, not that bad if you enjoy listening to music you don't already own.

                  but

I am not going to renew this next year. I don't spend enough time in the car or at work listening to the radio anymore. Most of the talk that I listen to can be podcast for free and played at my own times and music I now play on the computer on pandora.

I subscribe to Sirius, as it was a dealer item. No complaints, and has the best comedy. As long as they don't cancel "Blue Collar Radio", I'll be happy.

Hahaha, Blue Collar is great. They're getting a bit raunchy lately. Not there's anything wrong with that, but I thought Rawdog was for that material. I just can't leave that station on while the kids are in the vehicle.

I like the satellite radio for the fact that I hear songs all the time that I never would have thought to buy. And I'm in the car for 3 hours each working day. Way too long to listen to "buy back your unwanted gold" and " male enhancement" commercials.

Plus, there's an all Elvis channel. Plus one! Top that.

My wife has xm, I have sirius. THe past week or two she's been asking me if Sirius has a channel named "x" or "y". Finally, after two or three, I asked why, she said that she thought her channels changed and that they were sirius channels. I said they were. But it seems she (XM) is getting sirius channels, but sirius isn't getting xm channels that I can determine. While I came to beleive sirius was generally better, there were plenty of XM stations I'd like to get, but no way I'm paying extra for it.

How about for the same monthly fee I get to pick 100 channels I want from both?

I had a little start there--three of my laptops are named Pandora, Pandora II, and Pandora III. I HOPE you're talking about a service and not my laptops. AFAIK, none of the iTunes libraries are shared...
