That is about as close to a gift as you will probably get with Xmas coming up and everyone broke, Radman. A saw in that condition would bring $750 on a low note where someone "had" to dump it quick as in D-I-V-O-R-C-E or similar to around $900 which is the over the max I would pay. I got a factory re-conditioned Uni-saw with warranty for $999 but that was a special deal where I demonstrated band-saw for the seller at the Atlanta WW Show 2 years ago.
Order the Shark from Lee as it is a large improvement over the Uni-saw original but do it now. Lee stays about two months behind. Unless you can get a cheap Uni-saw guard (many are sitting collecting dust and probably someone would love to sell there's) I would just be darn careful and wait for Lee to make one as I would not compromise on what he makes from a safety stand-point and over-head dust also.
Good luck and again... be very careful until you get a guard on it. You could just get a pair of Rockler Universal clamps until Lee can make one and mount a piece of stock to the fence that goes over the blade. Or cut a dado in that piece of stock and put a piece of Lexan in it so it covers the blade but you can actually see it through the Lexan.
Good luck and have fun radman...Comment

Nice score and a great price. You're gonna love it.
As for finding a temporary guard, try calling some of the local suppliers in your area, as shops post "for sale" items with them, or they may know of items. It's worth a try.

Thanks CM for the local numbers; shall call and check.
May not be a bad idea to ask other Unisaw owners here if anybody has a throwaway guard. It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.

Hey Radhak, its nearly 5pm on the east coast, where are the pictures of you with your polished saw and your first ripped and cross cut board to show off?

Good point Jon, but I've been too busy opening up the saw and cleaning it up for pics - my bad. Shall go out soon and rectify that.
My problem is that I found a bunch of minor things missing so I have been a bit restless, unable to setup the extension table or the blade-guard. I know, just the new-parent jitters
. I shall be asking here for help from Unisaw owners now.
