After a truly long week, Belinda and I made it home safely this afternoon. I have missed you ladies and gentlemen.
Friday afternoon, with family and friends in attendance (and abundance!) my dad was laid to rest with full millitay honors. The gentlemen from the VFW or American Legion (sorry guys I can't remember which) did the full monty and it was very impressive. As the oldest sibling, I was presented with the flag. The 21 gun salute and the playing of Taps helped give me a bit of closure.
We were with friends and family all week, so there were so bright spots in an otherwise sad time.
If any of you had any doubts about the caliber of the gentleman that hosts this forum for us, let me lay them to rest for you. When I got home this afternoon, there was a package waiting for me from Sam. This is the public "thank you" to go along with the private one I sent earlier.
Before I left for Ohio, a lot of you had posted on my original thread. My family was surprised and gratified when I told them of the well wishes we/I were getting from around the country and world. Again, thank you all!
