Some Days I Love My Job

    1. SEV1 problem that really isn't? - check
    2. Being asked for conclusions before you get data? - check
    3. Having an 'expert' argue with you after coming to you for help? - check
    4. Panicking at anything and everything seen in a log file? - check
    5. Not getting data you asked for so you can give conclusions? - check
    6. Customer wanting it all NOW? - Check

You can have it correct or you can have it fast. Pick either one.

Or my favorite: "But we didn't change anything!"

To which I reply, "Really? The logs say you did. Do you want to know what you changed?"

Step 1 East coast group wins major IT contract with vague clue proposal.
Step 2.. toss proposal with no real hardware requirement to Implementation team.
Step 3.. It's September.. It has to run by Mid November.. Still no hardware requirements..
but a list of applications (some have not been written yet)
Step 4.. Order hardware you hope will do the job. (read flexible and scales well if we missed the target)
Step 5 It's October.. during planning meeting with east coast group explain how the hardware will meet their unknown requirements and why they might miss the unrealistic deadline.
Today.. Hardware in and racked.. Still waiting on software license keys.. Gah!!!!
Starting to get wishful thinking hardware requirements from people who have no clue about DR or scalability.

          2 - 6 . . . sounds like LOML with problems on her computer, especially # 2.
