    Remember this guy?

He debuted in 1985, same year as Live Aid, the Ford Taurus, Mike Tyson, and Tetris.

I was still single and in med school--fun times...

Sure, I remember Max... Voiced by, and modeled after, actor-comedian Matt Frewer...

      Oh yes,

Remember him well. I was the Art Diector for that cover.

Was it Diet Pepsi that he did commercials for? IIRC, the ads lasted much longer than the series.

Actually, it was New Coke... He was actually around much longer than New Coke, but only because he had started out in the UK well before we first saw him here on our side of the pond... First time I saw him was on Cinemax. After "Max" disappeared, Matt Frewer had his own short-lived sitcom in the US. I remember having much difficulty convincing people that Matt and Max were "related".

I remember him being "high tech", how far we've come!

He made an appearance in Back to the Future II also.

              ROTFLMAO

I JUST had a conversation with a couple of people about him AND new Coke this week. One of them about choked and said he hadn't heard that name uttered in 10 years.

Then also this week I saw a reference to the cracker that hijacked a broadcast (in Chicago if I remember correctly), trying to look in the style of Max Headroom.

              Small world.

I have a fleeting remembrance of "Max", as I do of "New Coke". Since I've always been and will continue to be a Pepsi devotee, I find it counterintuitive to have any allegiance to a product line that tenders compassion and confusion with formulas of different names including "Classic".

                    Besides, Pepsi tastes better.
