Our Dachshund is 2 1/2 and has been raised on Royal Canin Dachshund blend. It was recommended by both the breeder and vet. The package states Product of USA although they do have factories around the world. www.royalcanin.us/
Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul, Kirkland Signature, and Diamond Naturals, all manufactured by Diamond Pet foods, which is in the US. They don't specifically say where ingredients come from, but have high quality standards. Breeder's Choice is similar as well. No guarentees that all ingredients are US sources that I can find, but all are high quality foods.
Some problems with all of this are that pet foods are made as most things by contract bidders. What may in one geographic area be only domestic products the same may not hold true for the same brand made in a different plant. FWIW the news article linked to above is over a year old. The source of the contaminats has likely been changed so those brands likely are no longer at risk.
I have personally hauled many loads of Kirkland Brand to Costco stores in my state years ago when I was a driver. These were shipped form the same plant that shipped Atta-Boy dog food.
I just got done speaking with Innova and the rep. told me their B vitamins come from China (their only Chinese ingredient). Furthermore, she said _all_ B vitamins come from China, that there are no other producers in the entire world of consumer or pet-grade B vitamins. She seemed uber-confident in this.
If she is right, I am discouraged because I've called a number of the other dog food companies and they have all insisted that they don't use ANY Chinese ingredients, PERIOD.
Perhaps they don't add any B vitamins in those brands. But that is probably a long shot.
So if they use B vitamins I have to assume their reps were purposely misleading me. I suppose the reps. maybe didn't know. But after the melamine blow-up you'd think the reps. would be briefed on what comes from China. And if they don't know and were never briefed, then they certainly shouldn't be making the claim that they don't use any Chinese ingredients.
I suppose the Innova rep. was wrong. Anyone know if B vitamins are made anywhere but China?
I've been using Purina ONE for large breed. I talked to the rep from Purina today, and asked if all ingredients came from the U.S. She told me 97% - 98% of ingredients came from the U.S. but they did get some ingredients from international supply. She didn't know if anything came from China.

Of course, the cynic in me thinks two things: (1) If you manufacture a carbonated beverage, and make the same claim (97 to 98% of the ingredients are from the U.S.), then it is still possible that the water used could come from Mexico.
(2) With the current sensitivity to Chinese food products, I really have to believe manufacturers know if they are using Chinese products. Ed and I can't be the only ones calling asking origin questions. I imagine these service reps. have purposely not been told so they can honestly say "I don't know" when asked.
I've been feeding my dog Canidae All Life Stages Dry Formula for over a year now and he really loves it. We currently purchase it at the local feed store but I believe they are going to expand distribution to other retail outlets.

Out of curiosity, was that the dry or the canned food? I should have specified that I have read (on several greyhound message boards) that the dry food is made by Diamond. I don't know anything about the canned, I rarely feed canned food.
Funny thing is that greyhound people in general seem to love the Kirkland food, doing a quick google search, the first few links were saying negative things from other breed specific forums. I'm in the process of switching to it from the Chicken soup for cost reasons, so far it's going well.
