Charles Goodyear probably got the same questions about his "Vulcanized rubber tires". Of course he also died broke!

That's an interesting question. I would guess the inner area where the "spokes" attach would not be designed to be a collection area. They may not be much different than a wheel with narrow spokes, like wire wheels that popularized many high performance sports cars. Weighing the advantages over pneumatic tires and conventional rigid wheels might be the trend that will make them worthwhile.
