Looks like Michelin has made a lot of improvements. I've seen some videos before, but not those specifically. I wonder if they have any in production yet?

I think they could engineer it to handle high speeds. I also think that with no sidewalls the inside could easily fillup with mud or gravel.
That's an interesting question. I would guess the inner area where the "spokes" attach would not be designed to be a collection area. They may not be much different than a wheel with narrow spokes, like wire wheels that popularized many high performance sports cars. Weighing the advantages over pneumatic tires and conventional rigid wheels might be the trend that will make them worthwhile.
