    Toronto Skyline and other pics

Finally, the long awaited pictures of the Toronto skyline that I had promised way back in the spring. I took the pictures from the Niagara Escarpment with a 300mm lens. I found that it was still a little hazy over the city and perhaps I'll go back in more cooler weather. Actually, it would look good with the lake half frozen over. I didn't shrink any of the pictures because they will lose some of the detail.
Looking across Lake Ontario. Clearly you can see the CN Tower and the Rogers Center( Sky Dome-home of the Blue Jays).

It's not often you see two ships passing at the west end of the lake.

This is looking east along the Queen Elizabeth Way towards Niagara Falls.

Also looking east at the Niagara Falls skyline. When the weather is clear enough you can see the mist from the Grimsby escarpment.

My tripod wasn't quite level in the first pics although I didn't notice it until I down loaded the images on my puter. I'm thinking I might put a small line level on the shoe of my tripod.

Thanks for looking at my pictures.

Great photos! It doesn't look that far across the lake, but when it is rough, it is a looooong way there and back.

Nice shots Richard, haze is the bane of all landscape photographers. Sometimes skylight, UV, haze or even polarizing filters can help.

You may have already tried this but when shooting with a long lens a remote shutter release can help reduce vibration and therefore blur but if you dont have one using the self timer is an option. Even on a tripod the action of pushing the shutter button can introduce shake. If you have a D-SLR it may have a "mirror lockup" function. this helps prevent vibration from whats called "mirror slap."

Nice pics Richard. Did you see me? I was at the CN Tower that day looking your way . I think I even waved at you .

Thanks for sharing those. It is nice to see the city from the other side!

Great pics, Richard. I remember that scene, well. Like I said in a previous thread, it was a delightful suprise seeing that when we came over the hill. My only regret was that I wasn't in a position to take any pictures at the time. Thanks for sharing.

BTW, we did make it to Stratford again, in August. Have you ever done the theatre thing? Great weekend.

I love Toronto, and Niagara Falls never fails to impress and humble me. Nice job with the pics!

I havn't done the theater since high school. It was fun then.

Thanks for all the comments. I would like to go back to the same spot when the snow is on the ground and there is ice on the lake.

Thanks for the pictures. Makes me homesick. I'm about ready to make a trip back, but just don't know when. Before the snowy season I hope.
